Men’s Medical Staff EDI Affinity Group on Holding Space: Exploring the Principle of Inclusion

The VCH Medical Staff Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee has launched a men’s medical staff EDI affinity group. This group meets to explore the intersection of gender and race as health-care providers. The group is open to all VCH medical staff who identify as men. We respectfully ask that those who don’t identify in this way understand the need for an exclusive space, and refrain from joining this group. We thank you for your allyship.

VPSA Dinner with Leaders: Dr. Kathleen Ross, President-Elect, Canadian Medical Association

A former president of the Doctors of BC, Dr. Ross becomes CMA president in August. She will talk about the many priorities she will face in that role and how she hopes to build collaboration to address these issues. Join us to learn more about Dr. Ross and her journey, her main areas of focus, and how physicians can best engage with her and the CMA.

VCH Physician EDI Mentorship Program: Call for mentees

This program aims to support aspiring or new/emerging physician leaders from equity-desering groups (including Indigenous people, women, racialized/Black and people of colour, persons with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+).

We are accepting eight exceptional new/aspiring physician leaders.

Commensality group funding available

We are accepting new groups to apply; we also encourage previously funded groups to seek renewals. VPSA is offering $25 towards the meals for each attending physician and can help with scheduling if this is beyond the scope of the group leader. Funding is for six monthly meetings with a maximum of 12 physicians at each gathering.

Resident Physician Recognition Awards Program

In recognition of the outstanding service of residents to our community of care, VMDAS, VPSA, and VCH are launching their Resident Physician Recognition Awards Program.

Recognition will be given to residents who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to Vancouver Acute/Vancouver Community, including the provision of high-level service, dedication, patient advocacy, professionalism, and collegiality. Through these awards and an upcoming recognition event, we hope to further appreciation for excellent resident clinical service amongst our physicians/surgeons, allied staff, and hospital administration and to promote collegiality and well-being amongst our community.

Interested people are asked to fill out the application form. The time commitment is 10 hours over nine months. CME credits are available.
